Today, we introduced the students to the often overlooked, but incredibly helpful resources of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). We showcased how to access career-oriented information on the BLS website and urged the students to start thinking about what future they envision and the steps that must be taken (i.e., amount of education, required skills, etc.) to achieve said goal. In fact, we allowed the students to tour the website on their own and look up career profiles in industries that they might be interested in. It is important for the students to begin exploring their career aspirations and find a suitable match. Below is a sample of some of the industries that the students are currently interested in. In all, we strove to open their eyes to the beneficial resources offered by the BLS and spur thoughtful contemplation about potential career routes.
